Are you up for the Gumdrop Challenge?
As part of our week of STEM assemblies, tutor groups will be issued with a bag containing 10 gumdrops and 20 cocktail sticks at the end of the assembly.
The challenge is for the class to discuss, design and build a structure with the items in the bag. The structure must be capable of holding the weight of a textbook.
This encourages discussion about engineering, weight distribution and strength.
- Triangles are strong
- Large bases support more weight
The best structures will be shared on the STEM blog, so make sure you get your tutor to email a photo to me!
Good luck with your challenge!
